The Car Man was definitely a re-imagined versioned of Carmen - which is set in Spain during the 1800's. But Matthew Bourne's imagination had run completely wild, coming up with brilliant characters that jumped out from the stage. The show had a 60's small town vibe, with lots of colourful action; there were fights between almost every character at one point in the show! The dancing was incredible as usual, really inspiring solos and duets from Dominic North and the other principles. It was a very memorable afternoon spent at Sadlers Wells, and the performance will be vivid in my memory for a long time... Matthew Bourne remains one of my inspirations as a brilliant choreographer.
